Comparative measurements of 384 well plates manufactured by NUNC and TOMTEC
Experiments carried out by Ildiko Borbola and Dr. Sandor Cseh at
RecomGenex Ltd.
To test the TOMTEC 384-well plate a cell viability assay was used which is based on alamarBlue uptake and reduction.
The living cells can take up and metabolize the fluorescent dye resulting in an increased fluorescent signal.
In the presented experiment 15000 HepG2 cells/well were plated and after one day incubation alamarBlue was added for 4 hours. The detected fluorescence is shown in Figure 1 and 2 for a NUNC and a TOMTEC plate, respectively.
The Z'-factors were 0.56 for the NUNC plate and 0.57 for the TOMTEC plate.
These values indicate the robustness of the assay thus the good quality of the used plates.
Figure 3 and 4 compares the average of rows and columns in the case of the NUNC and TOMTEC plates.
In case of both plates the results are quite even with low standard deviations showing again the reliability of the plates.
